We are officially 5 days away from Christmas, so I hope everyone has beaten the shopping rush and prepared early this year! Here's what to expect from us in the coming days until we usher in the New Year:
- We'll be releasing a series of "2011 Expectations/Trends" posts from our regular and guest contributors, with our writers tasked with gazing into their crystal balls and looking at the world of social media in 2011.
- We're really excited about Gisborne's upcoming Rhythm and Vines festival. We will be travelling along to this year's festivities to cover the event from a social media perspective. We'll also be interviewing top artists on their use of technology and social media - it should be an exciting way to end the year!
Here are this week's top social media and technology happenings:- This week we saw Facebook surprise us all with a barrage of new features. The catch? The features wasn't meant to be released just yet.
- Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was named Time Magazine "Person of the Year".
- This week saw Yahoo! laying employees off, which resulted in Del.icio.us parting ways to do their own thing.

- A Swedish television network released a WikiLeaks documentary, where they tracked WikiLeaks from humble beginnings through to Julian Assange's ego getting the best of him.
- Peter Shankman of PeterShnkman.com took Klout scores to a whole new level, throwing an exclusive party based on an individual's Klout score.
- With Dell launching the world's second social media command center, we wondered if more businesses should be upping their social game?

- Twitter revamped their business site, where they have opened up promoted tweets and accounts functionality to all businesses.
- Finally, YouTube launched a revamped homepage.
