The Social-Lite: Episode 5 from Social Media NZ on Vimeo.

We are officially 5 days away from Christmas, so I hope everyone has beaten the shopping rush and prepared early this year! Here's what to expect from us in the coming days until we usher in the New Year:

  • We'll be releasing a series of "2011 Expectations/Trends" posts from our regular and guest contributors, with our writers tasked with gazing into their crystal balls and looking at the world of social media in 2011.
  • We're really excited about Gisborne's upcoming Rhythm and Vines festival. We will be travelling along to this year's festivities to cover the event from a social media perspective. We'll also be interviewing top artists on their use of technology and social media - it should be an exciting way to end the year!

Here are this week's top social media and technology happenings:

    • A Swedish television network released a WikiLeaks documentary, where they tracked WikiLeaks from humble beginnings through to Julian Assange's ego getting the best of him.
    • Peter Shankman of PeterShnkman.com took Klout scores to a whole new level, throwing an exclusive party based on an individual's Klout score.
    • With Dell launching the world's second social media command center, we wondered if more businesses should be upping their social game?

News you may have missed this week:

    • Twitter revamped their business site, where they have opened up promoted tweets and accounts functionality to all businesses.
